Draw this again - Jensen Ackles

My second entry to the contest:yay:

I fell in love with the reference photo when I saw cataclysm-x's version of it. She did such a wonderful job and I thought I had to do this too.
So I started drawing the before image in 2011 but right after I finished and scanned it I was really unhappy with the outcome, everything was so blurry and there were no real highlights and shadows.
After some time in a folder I decided to frame and hang it to the wall above my workspace.
Just then I realized how I upset was with the result and so I reworked the old drawing.
And I really like what came out of it. The image is much sharper and the light and dark parts are better leveled now.

This is an even smaller improvement than my first entry. Only when taking a close look at the two drawing you can spot the differences. But I feel much better now when I take a look at my wall and see the new image.

The after image can be found here: [link]

Technical stuff:

  • paper: Bristol paper 300g/m²

  • Faber Castell 9000 pencils (HB for the sketch, 2B-8B for the shading)

  • reference used

  • Photoshop to correct the levels

Liked the details of the remake but you should have kept the lights like the original ( the left side lighter and the darker part of the right)
When I see it, I first preferred the old one but seeing the new one it's more technic and has a lot of improvement and detail, what "kills" the new one might be the lack of contrast and I think making the eyes a bit darker would improve
I read someone told you you lost your touch, I think they mean the contrast because that's what I feel it gives this pictures "the touch"
Besides that these are awesome works!
